![]() MFRI Celebrates 75 Years
October 15, 2005 The Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute based in College Park celebrated its 75th anniversary with a festive program at MFRI Headquarters. Many activities took place on the grounds of the training center and displays were laid out inside the facility. A ceremony was kicked off with the Howard County DFRS Honor Guard and the Fire Brigade Pipes and Drums of Greater Baltimore. MFRI Associate Director Pat Marlatt made the introductions and MFRI Director Steve Edwards welcomed everyone under a bright sunny sky. Remarks were presented by Congressman Steny Hoyer of the First Congressional District of Maryland, President C. D. “Dan” Mote of the University of Maryland at College Park, and President Lee Sachs, Esq. of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association. Following these remarks, Director Edwards gave words of thanks to many organizations that help MFRI achieve its mission. Truck 15 along with College Park Truck 12 provided an arch over the MFRI entranceway during the celebration.
