![]() Fatal Collision on Good Hope Road
06/13/09 Rescue Squad 15 responded early this moring for a collision on Good Hope Road in the vicinity of Twig Road. Units found a single vehicle accident with five trauma patients and a vehicle on fire. The victims were quickly extricated and transported to area trauma centers. THE FOLLOWING IS COURTESY OF THE GAZETTE: A Laurel man was killed and four others were injured Saturday morning when the car they were riding in struck a utility pole on Good Hope Road in Silver Spring. Montgomery County Police responded to a collision near the intersection of Good Hope and Twig roads at about 1:46 a.m. The car, a 2000 Honda Civic, was traveling toward Briggs Chaney Road when it went off the road for unknown reasons and hit a utility pole on the right side of the road, according to Montgomery County police. The driver, 28-year-old Genry Obdulio Vasquez Gonzalez of the 300 block of Thomas Drive in Laurel, was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring where he succumbed to his injuries. The other four passengers were injured and treated at area hospitals. Caesar Marin, 34, of Silver Spring and Abelardo Marin Najera, 25, of Laurel were taken to Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.; Edy Alberto Ramirez Argueta, 22, of an unknown address and Oscar Rene Salazar Diaz, 20, of Laurel were sent to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. Caesar Marin and Argueta remain hospitalized; their condition is unknown.
