Meet Four New Maryland EMT’s…
Congratulations to the four BVFD Members who successfully completed the Maryland Emergency Medical Technician course offered by MFRI at the HoCo Academy!
- Jonathan Miller
- Samantha Lustig
- Edwin Rodriguez
- Yasmine Sosmath
EMT continues to grow into a more and more challenging, time-demanding, college-level course in which each student must:
- Successfully complete a 165+ hour EMT class, meeting three times per week.
- Successfully complete an internship approved by MIEMSS before taking a comprehensive written and practical certification examination.
- Successfully complete the EMT practical certification examination administered by MIEMSS.
- Be currently affiliated with a BLS EMS Operation Program where students ride an Ambulance under the direct supervision of a certified EMT.
We know that these individuals could have done many other things over the past six months. They could have seen over 80 full-length movies, driven across the entire country three times, spent quality time with family and friends. But instead, they made the drive to the Howard County Academy three times a week, studied in between classes, and rode Assessment calls on the Ambulance.
Thank you for your dedication to serving our community through the BVFD. As these Members took EMT outside of Montgomery County, they will not have the formal graduation ceremony afforded most new EMTs. Please make time to extend your congratulations and thanks to each.
