Loss of Master Firefighter Christopher Higgins
It is with profound sadness that the BVFD shares in the grief following the loss of our brother Master Firefighter Christopher Higgins. Having begun in the fire service as a volunteer with the Earleigh Heights VFD, MFF Higgins was a 22-year veteran of the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service and was assigned to Fire Station 15 since 2015.
On January 11, 2025, Chris was operating at a house fire in Prince George’s County when he collapsed. He was transported to a local hospital where he was unable to be revived after extensive resuscitation efforts.
Chris was later transported from the hospital to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore in a procession of apparatus from several jurisdictions and the Montgomery County Police Department.
MFF Higgins leaves behind his loving wife, Lisa, and their two young children. He is also mourned by his extended family, his Fire Station 15 brothers and sisters, and the entire fire service family.
