Katie Bulla

Executive Director

Katie Bulla’s connection to the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department began long before her professional role with the organization. Raised by BVFD members, the department has been a constant presence throughout her life. In fact, the first place she went after leaving the hospital as a newborn was the original Station 15.

Growing up around the firehouse shaped Katie’s understanding of service, teamwork, and community responsibility. That lifelong connection ultimately led her to join BVFD professionally, where she began as the Recruiter and Volunteer Coordinator, helping strengthen the department by supporting new members and volunteers. As the organization’s needs evolved, she moved into the role of Office Manager, gaining a broad view of the department’s operations and administrative structure.

Today, as Executive Director, Katie brings both personal history and institutional knowledge to her work. Her deep-rooted connection to BVFD gives her a unique perspective on the department’s culture and mission, and she is committed to preserving its traditions while supporting its continued growth and long-term success. Serving the Burtonsville community is not just her career, but a lifelong calling shaped by family, history, and service.
