Tuesday’s Snow Event Kept Crews Busy
Over the course of the day, Tuesday 1/21 and into the morning of Wednesday 1/22 BVFD crews responded to 23 calls for service in a 24 hour period. We fully staffed the Paramedic Engine, Ladder Truck, Rescue Squad, Medic Unit, and Ambulance. Calls ranged from medical emergencies to personal injury collisions. This included a small fire and an emergency response to the Glenmont Metro station.
At 3:30 am PE715, RS715, and C715 responded to Caplinger Dr in Company 12’s area (Hillandale) for the reported house fire. Units arrived on scene to find smoke and fire from the roof of the two story, single family home, adding T715 to the call on the rapid intervention dispatch. Crews found a small fire in the roof area around the chimney. RS715 performed searches and controlled utilities while PE715 stretched a back-up line.
Shortly after clearing the fire, T715 and C715 responded to the Glenmont Metro station for the report of an arcing insulator. Crews arrived and investigated, finding no services were required.
