BVFD Open House! 10/11/25
The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) invites the community to join us for our annual Open House on Saturday, October 11, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 13900 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, MD. This family-friendly event offers an up-close look at your local fire department and a fun afternoon filled with activities, demonstrations, and community engagement.
Visitors can explore emergency vehicles and equipment, meet firefighters and first responders, and enjoy a variety of activities for all ages including a moon bounce, a food truck, and educational exhibits from community partners sharing valuable health and safety information.
The day’s live demonstrations will showcase the lifesaving work of first responders:
- 1:00 p.m. – Side-by-Side Sprinkler Demo: Watch how quickly sprinklers can stop a fire in its tracks in this dramatic, eye-opening display.
- 3:00 p.m. – Vehicle Extrication Demo: See firefighters in action as they use specialized tools to rescue a victim from a simulated crash.
- Station Tours and Forcible Entry demos will also be happening throughout the day!
Special guests include the Maryland-National Capital Park Police Mounted Unit, offering a chance to meet their horses and officers, and a visit from Smokey Bear, reminding everyone that “Only YOU can prevent wildfires!”
The BVFD Open House is free and open to the public.
