BVFD Places Order for new Tractor Drawn Aerial
Silver Spring, MD – January 14, 2026 – The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department has officially placed an order for a new Pierce Enforcer Tractor Drawn Aerial through Atlantic Emergency Services.
This apparatus purchase follows the transition of Fire Station 15 in early February 2025 to an MCFRS owned, minimum of four-person staffed Tractor Drawn Aerial, replacing the previous rear mount ladder truck configuration with a tractor-drawn, extrication-capable unit. As part of that transition, MCFRS assigned a 2008 tractor-drawn unit to serve as the frontline Truck 715. The BVFD then sold the former Truck 715, a 2016 Pierce Arrow XT rear mount ladder truck, to begin the replacement process. Proceeds from the sale were applied toward the down payment for the new apparatus project.
The new Pierce Enforcer Tractor Drawn Aerial is expected to be delivered in early 2030. Funding for this project is being provided through a combination of the sale of the former apparatus, grant funding, and generous donations from the Burtonsville community.
BVFD intends to maintain a corporation-owned and designed ladder truck operating from Fire Station 15 to ensure the continued delivery of ladder truck and extrication capabilities to Burtonsville and surrounding communities.
