Honoring the Fallen: Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department Marks 25th Anniversary of 9/11
Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
We pause to remember the innocent lives lost, the grieving families left behind, and the first responders who rushed toward danger in our nation’s darkest hour. Their bravery and selflessness remain the very foundation of what it means to serve.
Members of the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department placed 343 flags to honor the fallen firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. We also carry in our hearts the more than 500 additional first responders who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.
On behalf of the BVFD President, Chief Ryman, and Board of Directors, we invite our community to join us on this sacred day of reflection. Carrying forward the legacy of those who served before us is the greatest honor we have, and we remain deeply proud to serve and protect the Burtonsville community in their memory. We will Never Forget.
